Travel Vaccines Available at Our Clinic
The vaccines you need depend on your destination, the type of travel, duration of stay, and your medical history. Your GP will recommend a plan based on your individual circumstances. Common travel vaccines include:
Hepatitis A
Recommended for most destinations in Asia, Africa, Central & South America
Hepatitis B
Recommended for longer stays or higher-risk activities
Combined Hepatitis A & B
A convenient option covering both vaccines
Typhoid
Recommended for travel to South Asia, South-East Asia, and parts of Africa
Influenza (Flu)
Recommended before international travel, especially to the Northern Hemisphere during flu season
Japanese Encephalitis
May be recommended for rural areas in South-East Asia and the Western Pacific
Cholera
May be recommended for travel to areas with active outbreaks
Rabies
May be recommended for extended travel in areas where rabies is common
This is not an exhaustive list. Your GP will assess your specific travel plans and recommend appropriate vaccinations. Vaccine requirements can change — always check smartraveller.gov.au for the latest advice.
Yellow Fever Vaccination
Yellow fever vaccination is a legal requirement for entry into certain countries in Africa and South America. If you are transiting through a country with yellow fever risk, proof of vaccination may also be required at your destination.
Yellow fever vaccines can only be administered at approved yellow fever vaccination centres. Your GP at Reliance Care can assess whether you need the vaccine and refer you to an approved centre if required.
Upon vaccination, you will receive an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), commonly known as a “yellow card”. This certificate is valid for the life of the person vaccinated.
Important
Yellow fever vaccination requirements vary by country and can change. Always check entry requirements with smartraveller.gov.au and the embassy or consulate of your destination country before travelling.

Costs and Medicare
The GP consultation to assess your travel health needs is bulk billed at Reliance Care Medical Centre in Truganina.
The cost of travel vaccines varies depending on the type and number of vaccines required. Some vaccines funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) may be available at no cost to eligible patients (for example, the seasonal flu vaccine for certain age groups).
Most travel-specific vaccines are not covered by Medicare and have an out-of-pocket cost. Your GP will explain all costs before any vaccinations are administered, so there are no surprises.
Vaccine costs are approximate and subject to change. Please confirm current pricing when you book your appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I get travel vaccinations?
It is recommended to see your GP at least 6 to 8 weeks before your trip. Some vaccines require multiple doses over several weeks, and others take time to reach full effectiveness. However, even a last-minute appointment can still be beneficial — your GP can advise on the options available for your timeframe.
Are travel vaccinations covered by Medicare?
The GP consultation to discuss your travel health plan is bulk billed at Reliance Care Medical Centre. Some vaccines, such as the seasonal influenza vaccine for eligible groups, may be covered under the National Immunisation Program. Most travel-specific vaccines (such as yellow fever, typhoid, or hepatitis A) are not covered by Medicare and have an out-of-pocket cost. Your GP will explain costs before proceeding.
Do I need a yellow fever vaccine for my trip?
Yellow fever vaccination is required for entry into certain countries in Africa and South America, and may be required if you are transiting through a yellow fever endemic area. An International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) is issued at the time of vaccination. Check the Smartraveller website or speak with your GP to confirm requirements for your destination.
What travel vaccines are available at your clinic?
Reliance Care Medical Centre offers a range of travel vaccines including hepatitis A, hepatitis B, combined hepatitis A & B, typhoid, influenza, and others depending on your destination. Yellow fever vaccination is available at approved yellow fever vaccination centres — your GP can advise whether this is needed and provide a referral if required.
Can I get my flu vaccine at the same time as travel vaccines?
In many cases, yes. Your GP will assess which vaccines can be administered together based on current guidelines. Some vaccines can be given at the same appointment, while others may need to be spaced apart. Your GP will create a vaccination schedule tailored to your travel dates.
Do children need travel vaccinations?
Children may need travel vaccinations depending on the destination, their age, and their existing immunisation history. Some vaccines have minimum age requirements. Your GP can review your child's immunisation record and recommend any additional vaccines needed for travel.
What should I bring to my travel vaccination appointment?
Bring your Medicare card, any previous immunisation records, your travel itinerary (including countries and regions you plan to visit), and a list of any current medications or allergies. This helps your GP provide the most accurate advice for your trip.
Is malaria prevention available at your clinic?
While there is no malaria vaccine currently available for routine use in Australia, your GP can prescribe antimalarial medication if you are travelling to a malaria-risk area. Your doctor will discuss which medication is appropriate based on your destination, length of stay, and medical history.
