Iswanee Mudaly

Behavioural Therapist

Brief introduction of Your clinician qualifications, relevant skills and experience

Iswanee received her bachelor degree in psychology in 2019 at Victoria University. Her main focus during her psychological studies was child development. Iswanee believes that childhood is the most important phase of a person as childhood determines what kind of adult a person will be later on as the experiences children have in early childhood shape the brain and the child's capacity to learn, to get along with others, and to respond to daily stresses and challenges.

Iswanee continued her studies in social work and got her Masters of Social Work (Qualifying) in early 2022 at Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP). Iswanee is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Even during her social work studies she mainly focused on children as she did her two placements as a school social worker ensuring and promoting the mental, social and physical wellbeing of children at school and outside of school (when needed). She has experienced working with children with autism, assisting, assessing the needs and supporting them at school.

Iswanee has then been working as a Positive behaviour therapist. Her areas of interest consist of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and various psychological and social work theories such as cognitive theory, developmental perspective, strength based approach and behaviourism and social learning theory. Iswanee uses ABA approach as well as theories using relevant activities to help children to better understand their emotions, develop their skills, advance their coping mechanism and help them develop/enhance appropriate thought patterns needed to overcome unwanted/unhealthy behaviours. Moreover, Iswanee’s warmth, compassion and listening skills help her create good rapport with children which facilitate every session and help children thrive.
