Allied Health Assistant

Our trained allied health assistants work under the supervision of qualified therapists to help you get more therapy support and achieve your goals faster.

What is an Allied Health Assistant?

An Allied Health Assistant (AHA) is a trained support worker who works under the guidance and supervision of qualified allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists.

AHAs help deliver therapy programs designed by your therapist, giving you more opportunities to practice skills and work towards your goals between formal therapy appointments.

This is particularly valuable for NDIS participants who want to maximise their therapy outcomes while using their funding efficiently.

How It Works

1

Assessment by Therapist

Your therapist assesses your needs and creates a program.

2

Program Designed

Your therapist designs activities for the AHA to deliver.

3

AHA Sessions

Regular sessions with your AHA to practice and build skills.

4

Therapist Review

Your therapist reviews progress and adjusts the program.

Benefits of Allied Health Assistance

AHA support can help you get more from your therapy investment.

More Therapy Hours

AHAs can extend your therapy by delivering programs between appointments with your therapist.

Cost-Effective

AHA sessions are often lower cost than therapist sessions while still supporting your goals.

Consistent Support

Regular sessions help build skills faster through repetition and practice.

Supervised Care

All AHA sessions are designed and monitored by qualified allied health professionals.

What AHAs Can Help With

Allied health assistants can support a wide range of therapy activities under supervision. The specific activities will depend on your goals and your therapist's program.

Exercise program delivery and supervision
Mobility and transfer practice
Daily living skills support
Communication practice activities
Fine and gross motor skill activities
Sensory program activities
Social skills group facilitation
Home program support

NDIS Funding

AHA services can be funded under NDIS Capacity Building budgets. This is often a cost-effective way to get more therapy support within your plan.

Working with Your Therapist

Your AHA works as part of your therapy team. All activities are designed by your therapist and progress is reported back to ensure you're on track to meet your goals.
