Implanon Insertion & Removal
Long-acting, reversible contraception lasting up to 3 years. Our experienced female GPs provide bulk-billed Implanon services in a comfortable, private setting.
What is Implanon?
Implanon (also known as Nexplanon) is a small, flexible rod about the size of a matchstick that is inserted under the skin of your upper arm. It releases a hormone called progestogen to prevent pregnancy.
It's one of the most effective forms of contraception available, with over 99% effectiveness. Once inserted, you don't need to think about contraception for up to 3 years.
Quick Procedure
Insertion takes about 5 minutes. Removal takes about 10 minutes. Both are done with local anaesthetic.
Bulk Billed
The procedure is bulk billed. The Implanon device itself is subsidised on the PBS (around $30-40 with a PBS prescription).
What to Bring
Please bring your Medicare card and the Implanon device (obtained from a pharmacy with your prescription).
